Story[edit | edit source]

SPOILER WARNING: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Kronecker arrived at the Prontera palace with Friedrich and Nihil to meet up with Peter Heine. While waiting for the invited adventurer to meet them, a fight breaks out between him, Friedrich, and Nihil. Nihil wants to leave, seeing as he was no longer the Heine candidate for the crown and requests permission to go. Kronecker argues that it is his duty to stay and represent the family. Nihil expresses his frustration with how the family sees him as nothing, emphasizing that his given middle name meant misery. Friedrich warns Nihil to watch his words and his son storms out of the room. After Nihil leaves, Kronecker apologizes to the invited adventurer on behalf of the Heine family. He and Friedrich then introduce themselves along with Peter. Friedrich apologizes for Nihil's behavior, to which Kronecker tells him to leave the boy be as they cannot be expected to take of him any longer. Peter defends Nihil, asking the archduke to not be so harsh on him. He goes on to emphasize that Nihil was originally intended to be the Heine candidate for the throne, but Peter was selected even though he was a secondary member of the family. Kronecker argues that Nihil is unable to uphold the legacy of the Heine family line, yet hungers for power. Peter doesn't see it that way and thinks Nihil is simply acting out because he lost his candidacy. Kronecker no longer wished to talk about Nihil as he thought it to be improper to speak of family issues in front of the adventurer. He changes the subject to the topic of the crown and believes the next king of Rune-Midgarts will be a Heine. Friedrich brings up how Isenhardt Walter attacked the other candidates, forcing Ernst Gaebolg to execute him. It was thought that Ernst would be crowned king as a result, but he suddenly dropped out of the Royal Assembly, presumably at the request of the queen. This is why the Royal Assembly was being held again. Kronecker thinks Nihil is jealous that Peter was chosen as the Heine candidate, but Friedrich still believes that his son is a good kid despite his recent behavior.[2]

Kronecker later appears at the Ritual of Blessing with the rest of his family. The ritual begins with him leading everyone to chant their blessings upon the chosen candidate Peter Heine.

On behalf of the seven royal families supporting Rune-Midgarts
Here is the new appointed representative
May the blessing starlight reach the glory of the earth
Please allow the power from the source to be granted for all beings
The courage to charge forward and strike the enemy
The heart to embrace everything in this world
The strong will to protect everything within reach
The intact pride of justice and faith that never bends no matter what
The virtue of looking up to others with a humble mind
And the wisdom to see the truth

Before the ritual could complete, an intruder appears and strikes down Peter. The intruder elaborates that he heard that a piece Ymir's Heart was hidden in the Room of Consciousness, but it turned out to be a fake. The adventurer and the royal families attempt to approach the intruder, but the intruder threatens that if they take another step he will destroy the fake Heart of Ymir. Kronecker is surprised that the Heart of Ymir is fake, which causes the intruder to realize that none of the royal families know where the real one is hidden if they were ignorantly carrying out the ritual with a fake. The intruder is frustrated that he wasted his time with a fake and decides to leave without causing more of a scene. However, he quickly backtracks on his word and destroys the fake Heart of Ymir. The royal families are then accosted by more intruders, but they are able to fend them off with the help of the adventurer. The intruders disappear and the Terra Gloria along with them.

The archdukes and Nihil meet up with the adventurer after the ritual was canceled and demanded to know if the adventurer had told anyone about the ritual. While the others discussed the issue of the intruders, Kronecker looks through the royal record about the Room of Consciousness to find that several pages are blank. A small note therein reads "Only the ones who know the truth can read this," prompting Kronecker to call out in frustration that he cannot read what is on the pages.

Suddenly, Kronecker interrupts the inquiry to tell them that the Terra Gloria is now gone, having disappeared when the Heines were taking care of Peter during the invasion. He believes the intruders must have taken it during the chaos. Kronecker goes on to share that the Star of Blessing was said to be fake. Nihil interjects that he was responsible for allowing information about the ritual to leak. He recalls having talked to someone while he was drunk and believes that he is to blame for someone else knowing about the ritual besides the adventurer. Ian declares that the Walters will not sit back and do nothing despite not attending the Royal Assembly. Maximilian adds that he has heard the rumors about Nihil and wonders why he did what he did. He accuses Nihil of sabotaging the ritual and reminds him that Peter is also a Heine. Nihil tries to defend himself to no avail until the adventurer interrupts the call-outs, explaining that he/she overheard two individuals who were plotting to drug a member of the royal families. Maximilian demands proof of the plot, suspecting that the adventurer is making up the story to save Nihil's reputation. The adventurer affirms that the Nerius sisters can testify to having seen Nihil get drugged in the banquet hall. Ian decides that the families need to meet to discuss the matter and asks Kronecker what he thinks. Kronecker admits that if it were true that Nihil was drugged, it doesn't negate the fact that he acted carelessly. He sentences Nihil to house arrest, denying him contact with anyone unless absolutely necessary. He then turns the archdukes' attention to the missing Terra Gloria and the fact that the Star of Blessing was a fake. Ian agrees to organize a meeting right away to discuss their next actions.

Kronecker encounters the adventurer back at the Heine villa where Peter was recovering from the attack. He is embarrassed by the event, but acknowledges that the adventurer was invited to observe the ritual and that he/she did help to fend off the attackers. He goes on to explain that the Heines have been looking through the royal records to find out what happened to the Heart of Ymir, but found nothing but a riddle. The adventurer reveals that he/she is aware of the riddle and Kronecker is impressed by his/her sharp eye. He admits that the only way to find out what happened is by going back to the past. Friedrich points out that Court Magician Nillem is able to travel through the dimensional crack that was discovered and that Nillem begged to be accompanied by the adventurer his/herself. Friedrich was hesitant to involve anyone else, but given that the adventurer has already seen enough, he admits he has no other choice but to trust the adventurer. The adventurer heads off to his/her room to await the court magician.[3]

Kronecker goes over to the Room of Consciousness some time later to check up on the adventurer. He meets the adventurer by Lindt's librarian desk and asks about his/her travel to the past. The adventurer relays what he/she experienced in the dimensional crack and Kronecker is surprised that the theft of the original Heart of Ymir by a valkyrie was not documented in the royal records. He then asks the adventurer to read the enchanted blank document in the records since he/she should've fulfilled the requirements to do so. The adventurer reads aloud what is shown to him/her to everyone present in the room. Nillem and Lindt wonder if they will be executed for knowing royal secrets they weren't meant to know and Kronecker decides nothing will happen to them for the time being. Kronecker wonders if they would need to negotiate with the Rekenber Corporation given that the Terra Gloria crown can work with a fake Heart of Ymir.

He turns to the adventurer and implores him/her to continue traveling back to the past to either keep the Heart of Ymir from getting stolen or bring it to them in the present. He doesn't think it would be possible either way, but figures it would be worth a try. He promises to get approval for the adventurer to visit the Royal Family Past Memories for as long as it would take.[4]
