It seems GRAVITY has an obsession with renaming their games to make it look like they've made more games than they actually had.
Ragnarok: Valkyrie Uprising = Ragnarok: Path of Heroes = Ragnarok: War of Gods = Ragnarok: Battle of Heroes
Ragnarok: Ash Vacuum = Ragnarok Empire
Ragnarok Online: Prequel = Ragnarok Online Web = Ragnarok Journey
Ragnarok: Renaissance = Ragnarok Revival = Ragnarok R = Ragnarok RUSH
And with Ragnarok Mobile: Eternal Guardians of Love being advertised as Ragnarok M in Korea, I expect that game to be renamed yet again when it actually gets released internationally.
Just look at that list. Only five games, but FIFTEEN FRICKIN' NAMES for those games! As the Angry Video Game Nerd would say: "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING???" And it's only going to get worse with RO being re-marketed as Revo-Classic, Re:START, and Ragnarok: Zero, which makes absolutely no sense when it's just the same game with different mechanics and such. WHAT THE FRICKIN' HEL? (Yes, I'm referring to the Norse Hel on purpose.)
Up until 2012, GRAVITY has been pretty good with keeping the names of their games consistent throughout their international releases. Yet for some reason, starting with Ragnarok: Valkyrie Uprising, they decided to start this multiple naming scheme.
Are they trying to be like Squaresoft, which ended up renaming Final Fantasy V as Final Fantasy II and Final Fantasy VI as Final Fantasy III in the west? Even then, it was only 2 games that went through a rename and they eventually corrected everything and released the first 6 Final Fantasy games under their original titles to the west, so I just don't understand why GRAVITY has chosen to be confusing like this. The only reason I can think of to rename their games across the globe is to give off the impression that they've made more games than they actually had. Seriously, 5 games with 15 NAMES? And it's not like they're lying to their investors as they do refer to the games by their original names in their SEC reports, so what's up with the multiple names? It's like they're trying to attract gamers with attention deficit disorder or something.
"Hey, wanna try our new game Ragnarok Revival? Or how about Ragnarok RUSH? They're totally two different games, I swear!"
